    It's normally not recommended to include the reasons for leaving a job on your resume, but if you've been laid off, this strategy could help dispel employers' fears that you may be a job-hopper. You can include the reason for leaving each position by writing "layoff" in parentheses near the job title or after the employment dates. You can also use your cover letter to explain your recent circumstances and emphasize you're looking for a position that would allow you to make a long-term contribution.
